After my first week in Oslo, I can only admit that I really like the place. A more urban place then Fåvang, and all the small minded people living nearby. Oslo has a large population. Not the kind I am used to from Lillehammer, but in a positive mather. Since when the number of people increases, the more you walk around unnoticed. You can be more yourself, and not thinker about what the next one would think of you.

I have decided to move to a near town from where I live now. The place is called Vinstra, and is the place where I work. Starting this september, I will start on a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) sertificate. This is with Windows Server 2008, instead of the old Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). My current plan is to live there for just one year, and the move on. Meanwhile this period I will take regular trips to Oslo to get a more refined view on the world, rather to get closed back in Vinstra.
After some more details from the police. It came to my knowledge, that I were conned by a female from Iraq. A chance in million years that it was even possible. I were not given all the info., but it seemed like she did not have a norwegian greencard. And there had been some previous cases regarding the police. The husbands I mentioned earlier was not even a part of the con. I learned it the hard way, never pay up front.
After some investigation today, I found out that the whole deal about a cheap MacBook Pro 17″ for under $2000 was just some scam pulled by a person calling himself Krister Aga. Been in contact with the locale police, but they had no record or whatso ever about a person by the name Krister Aga. I will press charges against him this friday. Will keep you posted!
Me and a friend of mine, spent the weekend on a nearby cabin. I brough his Dell M1710 and I my external harddrive. We watched a couple of movies, some in regular DVD-quality, and some in really nice HD. Since the Dell M1710 is equipped with a WUXGA-screen, capeable to display a awesome resolution of 1920×1200. This made watching Eastern Promises (2007) a dream.
When I read the announcement made by Canonical Ltd. about the new Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. I started to think, why not install Ubuntu on the desktop PC, when I get an much faster PC with the incoming MacBook Pro, (atleast I hope it shows up soon enough). Then I can start to temper with GNU/LInux in a more userfriendly enviroment, rather then the slice I am currently hosting this blog from.
Update: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS is released for download.
The dude selling me the MacBook Pro, has not replyed since yesterday morning. I am starting to get very impatient. If I still has not got any reply tomorrow, I will call him, and ask what took so long.
Next time, I will withhold a larger part of the money before transfer all.
Getting my first mac later this week. Purchased a new MacBook Pro 17″ from a guy who needed the money instead of a brand new notebook. Never been opened, and I got it about 45% cheaper then the stock price from Apple Store.
Specs:
- 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 2GB memory
- 250GB hard drive
- Double-layer SuperDrive
- NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB
- 1680 x 1050 pixels
I really hope this can be a real improvement from my getting-to-old desktop computer.
MindTooth now run on a reinstalled VPS server from SliceHost. This time around I have installed a different web server, LiteSpeed rather then the usually memory hungry, Apache. MySQL and PHP support is also added. Now with an updated version of MySQL from Dotdeb and PHP compiled from source using LiteSpeed’s own PHP SAPI extension.
I really like the usability of LiteSpeed contra Apache. This is all handled with a nice web administration interface. Planing also to do some testing of eZ. The norwegian CMS-solution.
When I woke up this morning. It made clear that I would have no interest what so ever regarding the computer-world. This fell on the wrong day, since today I and my boss is schedule to setup a wireless network at where I practice my sertificate.
I have finally found something to fill my days. Started to take a norwegian sertificate called “Datakortet“. This is just telling my future boss that I have the basic skill of the Windows operative system and the Office-suite. Many see this as an advatnage and can increase my possibility to get a job I like, and not some retarded stuff.
I completed the first module with a score of 100%, the second module regarding Windows XP I only got 83%. Consider that as a poor score for the knowledge I operate at. But, as my teacher told me, I only show my completed sertificate, not the score of the various modules.
Then you have passed the robots.txt file
I have disabled the site from all crawlers. Using robots.txt.
Its harder then I would even imagine. I have serveral thousands of ideas and thoughs, but I can’t seem to get them written down. Must work more towards keeping a steady flow of updates. Currently looking after something I can program (learning i.e.) and become good with.
I flashed my router (Thomson SpeedTouch 546i) today. Downloaded a UK-version, that I were not sure would match. But after some trouble back and forth, I managed to flash to the latest version for that model. I am thinking about contacting my ISP to make them push firmware updates to their customers. Since today they only ship outdated models. And I am not even sure if I am allowed to flash it
Lets just hope so. One feature I miss with SpeedTouch is to configurate the DNS server. I am quite fond of OpenDNS, and their services.
I have started to experience some problems regarding some various websites. E.g. Stardock, CodecGuide (K-Lite Codec Pack) or Doopes.
Is it just me, or is this something a few more experience as a problem too?
Update: The problem lies with my ISP. I hope them get around to solve it soon. Even though it is easter holiday.
Every person that use or has used a Mac, is a familiar with the webbrowser called Safari. During last years WWDC, Apple announced Safari for Windows. It was released as version 3.0 beta, and has after gone through some minor fixes, etc. Yesterday, Apple shipped the Safari 3.1 update, and I got notified through the Apple Software Update application Apple has started to ship with all its Windows-products. I accepted, and I am writing this from Safari 3.1. So far it is stable, and fast. But the term “tabbed browser” is abit overused. Do to the fact that you can’t force links to be opened as a tab in the current window, instead of opening them as a new windows. That is abit old IE6-ish.
If you are a Microsoft Windows user, and want to test-drive Safari 3.1, click here. Please report back with your experience.
Just found Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 in todays mail. This is the Xbox 360 version, along with the special tinbox. If you are playing the game coop, add me to your friendslist; Alien Cheese. And we can play together!
Switched back to WordPress SVN. Since that is the platform I have most experience with. And it is easier to make a template for WordPress rather then the dynamic system of Movavble Type. I will continue to test-drive MT over at 360-Fan.net. But my main focus is MindTooth - brain in action. Try to make a design created by me, and not some from WordPress Theme Viewer.
As always, stay tuned ![]()
